IIT Delhi Recruitment

In an effort to address the backlog vacancies for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC) categories, IIT Delhi Recruitment and other central higher educational institutions (CHEIs) have undertaken a special recruitment drive. IIT Delhi Recruitment has filled 4,400 Backlog Faculty Vacancies. The Minister of State for Education, Subhas Sarkar, provided details in a written reply to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha.

Mission Mode Recruitment Drive in Central Higher Educational Institutions

Under the mission mode of the recruitment drive for CHEIs, including prestigious institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), a significant number of faculty vacancies have been filled. The total count stands at 4,440 faculty positions for SC, ST, and OBC categories. This proactive approach aims to enhance diversity and inclusivity in these institutions.

Autonomy of IITs and Reservation Rosters

Responding to queries about the preparation of reservation rosters for direct recruitment in teaching faculty cadres at IITs, Sarkar emphasized that IITs operate as autonomous bodies under the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961, with subsequent amendments and statutes. They are mandated to adhere to the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teachers’ Cadre) Act, 2019, and guidelines issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for roster preparation.

Rolling Advertisements for Faculty Recruitment

Sarkar clarified that IITs adopt a dynamic approach to faculty recruitment by issuing rolling advertisements. These advertisements remain open throughout the year, allowing qualified candidates to apply whenever vacancies arise. This strategy ensures a continuous and accessible hiring process for individuals meeting the necessary qualifications and experience for faculty positions in IITs.

Continuous IIT Delhi Recruitment Process

The Minister highlighted that the occurrence of faculty vacancies is a continuous process within higher educational institutions. Factors contributing to these vacancies include retirements, resignations, and the need for additional faculty due to an increase in student enrollment. The CHEIs, including IITs, are committed to addressing these vacancies promptly.

Special Recruitment Drives for Backlog Vacancies

In line with the commitment to inclusivity, all CHEIs, including IITs, have received instructions to conduct special recruitment drives specifically aimed at filling backlog vacancies for SC, ST, and OBC categories. These efforts underscore the dedication to providing equal opportunities and representation for all sections of society.

IIT Delhi Recruitment Drive and the mission mode initiative in central higher educational institutions mark significant steps towards achieving a more diverse and inclusive academic environment. The commitment to following reservation guidelines and addressing backlog vacancies reflects a proactive approach to fostering equality and representation in these esteemed institutions.
