Free training program launches IIT Madras, Sony India for engineering students

Free training Program Highlights:
The training, scheduled to commence in the third week of January 2024, focuses on select disciplines including AI/ML, Product Security, and Computer Graphics. The initiative is entirely cost-free, and selected students (approximately 30) will receive stipends based on predefined criteria. The Finishing School Training Program is a joint effort by IIT Madras Pravartak and Sony India.

About IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation:
IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, a Section 8 Company, operates a Technology Innovation Hub funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. It focuses on Sensors, Networking, Actuators, and Control Systems.
Program Expansion:
Balamurali Shankar, General Manager of Digital Skills Academy at IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, shared that the program, initially launched in 2023, saw successful placements for students in top IT/ITES organizations and startups. The foundation aims to extend the program in 2024, benefiting learners nationwide and addressing the knowledge and skills gap between graduates and industry demands.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must hold an Engineering degree in ECE, CSE, or EEE with a minimum aggregate of 60%.
- The program is open to students who graduated in 2021-2022 and 2022-23, with eligible candidates receiving stipends.
- Selection criteria include academic performance, parental income, and performance in an entrance exam covering aptitude/analytical tests, followed by an interview.
Examination Centers:
Entrance examinations will be conducted at select centers in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
Placement Opportunities:
Top performers will have the opportunity to be inducted into Sony India through their standard process. For the remaining students, IITM Pravartak will facilitate placement in other companies by coordinating interviews through the placement cell, potentially leading to full-time job offers based on performance.
