Vision and Objectives of SIRE
SIRE is designed to cultivate a unique environment where individuals from diverse academic backgrounds collaborate to address complex challenges through teamwork and a blend of various research methodologies. The focal point of SIRE’s activities will revolve around offering a range of interdisciplinary PhD programs, including the prominent PhD DRIVE initiative.
Management and Program Oversight
Heading this pioneering department at BITS Pilani is Prof. Hitesh Datt Mathur. SIRE will not only administer ongoing interdisciplinary research and innovation programs like CDRF, PhD programs under various centers of excellence (CoE), SPARKLE, SOLVE, but also introduce new initiatives aligned with its interdisciplinary vision.
Scholar Recruitment and Community Building
Currently boasting a pool of approximately 75 PhD scholars, BITS Pilani has ambitious plans to expand this community by recruiting an additional 30 PhD scholars by March 2024 through the PhD DRIVE scheme. In its initial phase, SIRE is poised to welcome nearly a hundred scholars, fostering a dynamic and collaborative research community.
Future Initiatives
Looking ahead, SIRE will embark on the development of various Masters and minor programs, placing a strong emphasis on the interdisciplinary essence that defines the School. As BITS Pilani continues to evolve as a hub for cutting-edge research, SIRE stands as a testament to its commitment to nurturing innovation and collaboration.
